In 2002, my friend David and I were going to create a website called
BuyMyBrownstone.com. Interestingly enough, the URL is still available. We were going to try to raise $5,000,000 by posting a sob story about how we are two upper-middle class New Yorkers who simply couldn't afford the brownstone that our wives and children need... Our thought was, if 21 year old Alex
Tew from
Wiltshire, England could raise $1,000,000
dollars by selling pixels on
http://www.milliondollarhomepage.com/, we could raise $5,000,000 for our building. Granted, he was raising the money to pay for college and then set his parents up for life (a slightly better story) but we wanted our brownstone, dammit. 5 years later, I am still struggling with how I can raise the money. Is there a catch that would get people to give?
